How high can I load a skip?

Every skip will have its own ‘skip level’ and waste cannot go above this line. Reasons for this is to ensure the safety of the driver who will be removing the skip as well as the safety of other road users. Legally, the skip driver can refuse to take away a skip if it has been overfilled as it will not be level loaded, which is against regulations. If you do overfill then you may be asked to remove items before it is moved by the skip company, so it is always crucial to ensure you hire the right sized skip. However, we can help you find what you need if you are unsure. Removing the skip could also result in a fine.

How much does it cost to hire a skip?

There are many different factors that can affect the overall cost. On example will be where you live as skip hire prices are mor expensive in the South of the country, especially in the South East. However prices can be cheaper as you head towards the North of England. There will also be additional costs if you require a skip permit. The type of waste you need removing will also have an impact on the cost as general waste will be cheaper to remove than specialist tor hazardous waste.

Do I need a skip permit?

If you need the skip to sit on a pavement or public road then you will need access to a skip permit, this is also known as a skip licence. If you are going to put the skip on private land or a driveway then you will not require a permit. However, if need, in most cases we can sort the permit out for you. Most skip permits will last anywhere between one-two weeks, this depends on your council however, so do double check details on the licence. Most councils will allow you to extend the duration of your permit, but there will be additional fees.

Do I need a CPZ suspension?

A Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) suspension will be needed if you plan to place the skip in a public parking bay. The cost is usually calculated daily and per 5m of space.
